The Pittsburgh Steelers secured a huge win Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals as the offense more than doubled their points from the last two games combined.
After a week of hearing about their offensive struggles, Pittsburgh brought it in every way with Russell Wilson leading the way. The 36-year-old quarterback completed 29-of-38 passes, going for 414 passing yards and three scores. While he did throw a pick-six in the early going, he turned it around in a big way and never looked back. He managed to find George Pickens, Calvin Austin III, and Pat Freiermuth for the three touchdowns. Wilson spread the ball around in impressive fashion, connecting with 10 different receivers throughout the game. Pickens led all receivers with 74 receiving yards.
According to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor, Wilson’s 414 yards set a new Steelers record. Pryor noted that this was the most passing yards a Steelers quarterback has had against the Bengals in history — surpassing the record Ben Roethlisberger had set back in 2005 with 386 passing yards.
The Week 13 win for Pittsburgh moved them 9-3 on the season. With the Baltimore Ravens’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Steelers are now firmly in first place in the AFC North.
They’ll look to take a full two-game division lead with a win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
