Sidney Crosby Scores 600th Career Goal In Penguins Loss

One bright spot from a tough loss

Sidney Crosby remains one of the bright spots in what has been a tough start to the season for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Pittsburgh fell to the Utah Hockey Club by a score of 6-1. Utah scored three goals in the third period, including two on the power play by winger Dylan Guenther. It marked the Penguins’ third straight loss, as they were outscored 13-4 over the three-game span and saw their record fall to 7-12-4.

Crosby’s 600th goal came in the second period on the power play. He became the sixth player in NHL history to score 600 goals with a single franchise. The Penguins captain is also the 21st player in league history to reach the 600-goal milestone. Crosby is one goal away from hitting the top 20 in NHL history, as 601 goals would tie him with Jari Kurri.

The goal moved Crosby to eight goals on the season to go along with 13 assists, good for 21 points through 23 games.

Crosby and the Penguins will look to turn things around Wednesday night when they face off with the Vancouver Canucks. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
