Steelers QB Loosely Linked To Giants After Cutting Ties With Daniel Jones

Pittsburgh will have to make a choice

The New York Giants made a surprising move earlier this week.

New York has had quarterback Daniel Jones as the team’s starting quarterback since 2019. The Giants initially announced that they were benching him and then quickly released him afterward due to the response. It’s unclear where he will go, but it’s clear that he will have a market.

The Giants need to go back to the drawing board and land a new quarterback. NorthJersey.com’s Art Stapleton suggested Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields as a hypothetical option.

“Fields is now a gadget player in Pittsburgh, and when he was available for a late-day pick, the Giants did not get involved in trading for him when he was on his way out of Chicago,” Stapleton said. “That doesn’t mean he can’t emerge as a possible option this offseason.

This doesn’t mean that Fields is going to go to the Giants. It is just a hypothetical option, but it would be a good fit. The Steelers aren’t going to be able to retain both Fields and Russell Wilson. Both are starting-level talents and so one of them probably will leave. It seems like Fields could be an option to leave and now the Giants have an opening at quarterback. Could that end up being Fields? Nothing can be ruled out at this point as it is too early.
