Unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Steelers lost a defensive piece to injury this week.
Steelers veteran cornerback C.J. Henderson popped up on the injury report this week after being a full participant Wednesday with a neck injury. The former first-round pick signed with the Houston Texans this offseason but ultimately ended up in Pittsburgh after being cut.
Pittsburgh placed Henderson on the Reserve/Injured List before its Week 11 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, according to Steelers.com’s Teresa Varley.
“The Steelers placed cornerback C.J. Henderson on the Reserve/Injured List and signed running back Jonathan Ward from the practice squad to the 53-man roster,” Varley said. “Henderson was dealing with a neck injury during practice this week, missing practice on Thursday and Friday and was already ruled out for the game.”
“Henderson was signed to the 53-man roster on Oct. 22 from the practice squad. He was inactive for the Giants and Commanders games. Henderson was originally drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the ninth pick overall, by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has appeared in 49 games, starting 32, and has recorded 172 tackles, 139 of them solo stops, 16 passes defensed, six tackles for a loss, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a sack and fumble recovery.”

Henderson had yet to debut for the black and gold before his neck injury. He would have been a great rotational piece for the Steelers’ elite defense. Henderson will now be required to miss the next four games and will first be eligible to return in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
