This Wild Stat Is Big Reason Why Steelers Have Success Vs. Lamar Jackson

Will the Steelers come out on top?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a massive game ahead of them on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Pittsburgh is in first place in the AFC North, and a win over the Steelers on Sunday at home could go a long way in securing the top spot in the division later on in the campaign. The Steelers are 7-2 on the season and it’s surely going to be a tough matchup on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium.

While this is the case, Pittsburgh has had a surprising amount of success covering Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson. He is a two-time Most Valuable Player and yet he hasn’t had the same level of success against Pittsburgh. One stat that stands out is the fact that he has 21.2 quarterback rating against the Steelers, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.

“Not effective in the pocket: Jackson’s 21.2 QBR when inside the pocket against Pittsburgh is his lowest against any team,” Hensley said. “He has only completed 59.2 percent of his throws when inside the pocket against the Steelers, averaging 6.4 yards per pass attempt. But this is an area where Jackson is now thriving. This season, he is connecting on a career-best 71.5 percent of his passes inside the pocket, averaging 9.3 yards per pass attempt.”

Hensley also noted that Jackson has thrown seven interceptions against the Steelers throughout his career. Clearly, the Steelers do something right when they face off against Baltimore that other teams aren’t doing. This should bode well for Pittsburgh’s chances on Sunday.

Jackson has a chance to win his third Most Valuable Player Award this season, but that doesn’t mean he will be able to walk over the Steelers’ defense on Sunday.
