The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a fantastic spot but they aren’t getting complacent.
Pittsburgh is in first place in the AFC North with an impressive 7-2 record after taking down the Washington Commanders on Sunday. The Steelers are firing on all cylinders since Russell Wilson took over the starting quarterback job but Pittsburgh isn’t done adding.
The Steelers added another playmaker into the fold on the practice squad on Tuesday by signing former All-Pro Jamal Agnew, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“Source: The Steelers are signing former All-Pro (wide receiver) and returner Jamal Agnew to their practice squad, a potentially intriguing option now that he’s healthy,” Rapoport said.
Agnew is a seven-year National Football League veteran who has had his most success as a return specialist. He was an All-Pro as a rookie in 2017 after leading the league with 447 punt return yards and two touchdowns. Agnew has four punt return touchdowns throughout his career and two kick-off return touchdowns.

The 29-year-old had 14 receptions for 225 receiving yards to go along with one touchdown in 2023 as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 11 games played. He may not play a major role with the Steelers, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to bring him to town. Don’t be shocked if he gets some action on the active roster at some point over the next few weeks. This may not be a game-changing move, but it does seem like a solid one.
