Russell Wilson got the job done once again for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
Pittsburgh was in for a tough one coming off their bye week, heading on the road to face the 7-2 Washington Commanders. Jayden Daniels had proven to be a tough quarterback to slow down and the Washington defense has shown clear improvements — so head coach Mike Tomlin and company needed to bring their best.
At the start of the third quarter, the Commanders moved to a 24-14 lead due to a Jeremy McNichols touchdown. From there, Wilson would put things together, leading to a much-needed answer with Najee Harris scoring. Washington followed up with a field goal, bringing the Steelers into the fourth quarter having to score a touchdown to win.
Wilson would connect with trade deadline acquistion wideout Mike Williams on a 32-yard touchdown to take the lead and ultimately hold onto that 28-27 lead. The Steelers’ signal-caller finished with a tough 14-for-28 through the air, but got it done where it counted by throwing for 195 yards and three touchdowns.
Moving to 7-2, the Steelers remain at the top of the AFC North and are heading into their first matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. It’ll be the ultimate test, but one they’ve shown they can handle.
