Steelers Took ‘Hard Look’ At Giants Receiver Before Mike Williams Trade

Pittsburgh has been looking to wide receivers

The Pittsburgh Steelers certainly have been busy ahead of the National Football League trade deadline.

The deadline will pass on Tuesday, and the Steelers already made one great move and finally landed a new wide receiver by pulling off a deal with the New York Jets for Mike Williams. Pittsburgh has been looking to add a receiver for months and finally was able to get a deal done on Tuesday afternoon.

It sounds like Williams isn’t the only player the Steelers pursued. Another player Pittsburgh took a “hard look” at reportedly was New York Giants receiver Darius Slayton, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

“In addition to Mike Williams, the Steelers also took a hard look at Giants (wide receiver) Darius Slayton in their hunt for a wide receiver,” Fowler said. “New York values Slayton, a 2025 free agent who has a pair of 100-yard games this year.”

Pairing George Pickens with Williams is a great move for the 6-2 Steelers. Pittsburgh already is in first place in the AFC North and now adds another dynamic playmaker into the mix for quarterback Russell Wilson to throw to. Slayton would’ve been a great pickup as well, but it seems like the Steelers made the right move.
