Giants Wide Receiver Mentioned As Trade Deadline Target For Steelers

Pittsburgh is in a good spot

Are there any trades coming with the Pittsburgh Steelers?

The deadline will pass on Nov. 5, and the Steelers currently are on their bye week. If there ever was a time to add, it would be right now. Pittsburgh won’t return to the field until Nov. 10, so an addition would have plenty of time to get up to speed.

Pittsburgh’s offense has looked great since Russell Wilson took over the starting quarterback position. The Steelers are 6-2 and have an inside track to earning a playoff spot this season. They control their own destiny and adding a wide receiver ahead of the trade deadline would take them to another level.

USA Today’s Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz put together a list of possible trade targets for the Steelers and mentioned New York Giants receiver Darius Slayton as a fit.

“Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants: At 6-1 and 198 pounds, he’s not the towering figure one might envision as the fitting deadline addition for the Steelers,” Middlehurst-Schwartz said. “Still, his speed and tracking skills have been woefully underutilized in a Giants offense still coping with Daniel Jones’ limitations, and Pittsburgh got an up-close look at his capabilities on Monday night when he posted 108 yards on four catches.

“NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Slayton is unlikely to be moved, but maybe Omar Khan can come up with a strong enough offer to entice Giants GM Joe Schoen, whose focus should be gearing up for the reboot ahead this offseason.”

Pittsburgh has a chance to make some noise this season. Landing Slayton could help take the offense to another level.
