Steelers Listed As Potential Landing Spot For Patriots Wide Receiver

Will Pittsburgh add this receiver ahead of the trade deadline?

The Pittsburgh Steelers may be active as the Nov. 5 National Football League trade deadline is now less than a week away.

The Steelers have been looking to trade for a wide receiver since the summer. They tried to make a deal to land San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk and have since been linked to almost every major receiver on the trade block.

Pittsburgh can focus solely on the trade deadline as they enter their Week 9 bye week with a 6-2 record. Aside from star receiver George Pickens, the team could use a reliable No. 2 receiving option.

One option the Steelers were listed as potential suitors to land is New England Patriots wide receiver K.J. Osborn, according to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox.

“The Patriots are building for the future with rookie quarterback Drake Maye, and they’re willing to part with veterans now to meet that goal,” Knox said. “New England dealt Matthew Judon before the start of the season, and Uche may not be the last player whom the Patriots flip.”

“Wide receiver K.J. Osborn would be a logical trade candidate. He’s playing on a one-year deal and has seen a minor role in New England’s offense. In six appearances, he’s caught just seven passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. With Diontae Johnson becoming the latest receiver off the trade market, Osborn should draw interest. The Pittsburgh Steelers, who have questionable receiver depth but are otherwise set to make a run, could be in the market for Osborn.”

Osborn is a solid receiving option who caught 48 passes for 540 yards and three touchdowns last season with the Minnesota Vikings. With the Steelers’ improved passing game with Russell Wilson under center, Osborn could be just what the team needs to make a deep playoff run.
