Based on his recent comments, the Pittsburgh Steelers should have their superstar pass-rusher for many years to come.
T.J. Watt continues to be a game-breaker on the defensive side of the ball for the Pittsburgh Steelers in his age-30 season. The linebacker has recorded 6 1/2 sacks and four forced fumbles — including the game-winning strip sack on Daniel Jones against the New York Giants on “Monday Night Football — through eight games this season.
With his brother and future Pro Football Hall of Famer J.J. Watt having retired at the age of 33, the question was posed to Watt following practice Saturday. It sure sounds like he will be playing for quite a while, which should be music to the Steelers and their fans.
“My wife probably wouldn’t like that,” Watt told the media on Saturday. “But I love football. I love it right now. I see myself loving it for a long time, and as long as my body holds up, I want to play as long as I can.”
The four-time All-Pro and 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year is focused on this season, and leading the Steelers to their first Super Bowl appearance since 2011.
