Problems at wide receiver continue for the Pittsburgh Steelers following their latest roster move.
Before their Week 8 matchup against the New York Giants on Monday, the Steelers placed rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson on injured reserve, as reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. It means that the Pittsburgh wideout will miss at least the next four weeks of action, with his first chance to return to game action being in Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns.
The tough news continues for Wilson, who was dealing with a high ankle sprain throughout the preseason and first half of the season. Now, he heads onto injured reserve after injuring his hamstring.
Pittsburgh drafted Wilson with the 84th overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Michigan. It looks like a lost season for the rookie wideout, as he’s only been able to play in one game and hasn’t recorded a catch yet. As they have since the preseason, Pittsburgh is expected to look for receiving options via trade or free agency.
The Steelers will face the Giants on “Monday Night Football” before heading into their bye week. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. EST.
