One former Pittsburgh Steelers star could end up being one of the best players moved ahead of the upcoming National Football League trade deadline.
The trade deadline is under two weeks away now, and speculation and rumors are starting to pick up in a major way. There surely will be plenty of star power on the move. There already have been a few notable moves, but there will be even more on the way. It’s unclear at this point exactly who could be moved, but NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero mentioned former Steelers star Diontae Johnson as a candidate to be moved.
“Carolina Panthers (wide receivers) Diontae Johnson and Adam Thielen: Both veterans will sit out Sunday’s game against the (Denver Broncos), Johnson with a rib injury and Thielen still on injured reserve because of a hurt hamstring,” Rapoport and Pelissero said. “But both should be back soon and are logical trade targets. After the trades of (Davante Adams), (Amari Cooper), and (DeAndre Hopkins) and the (Los Angeles Rams’) apparent disinterest in dealing (Cooper Kupp), Johnson might be the best and most high-profile receiving option available. Carolina has gotten calls, although it won’t just give away one of its best players. Thielen is 34 years old but had 103 catches just last season and is another option.”
Pittsburgh traded Johnson to the Panthers after he spent the first five seasons of his career with the Steelers. He was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and has looked like a star this season. Don’t be shocked if he gets moved.
