The Pittsburgh Steelers certainly aren’t away from being among the top contenders in the AFC.
Pittsburgh is 5-2 and is coming off one of its best wins of the season. Russell Wilson now is under center, and the Steelers also feature one of the best defenses in football. If the Steelers could add another playmaker over the next two weeks ahead of the trade deadline, there’s no reason that Pittsburgh couldn’t be a Super Bowl contender this year.
The trade deadline will pass on Nov. 5, and there will be plenty of rumors and speculation ahead of it. The Athletic’s Jacob Robinson and Dianna Russini put together a list of nine trades they want to see this fall and urged Pittsburgh to pursue Los Angeles Rams superstar Cooper Kupp.
“Steelers add Cooper Kupp, sending the Rams a 2025 second-round pick,” Robinson and Russini said. “Yes, if Kupp doesn’t head to Tampa, Pittsburgh GM Omar Khan should make the call. He has a history of trading with the Rams (2023 deals for Kevin Dotson and Allen Robinson) and reportedly tried to send a similar package for (Brandon Aiyuk) this offseason. Kupp would give them the perfect complement to George Pickens in OC Arthur Smith’s play-action-heavy offense.”
If the Steelers could add a playmaker like Kupp into the mix, it would take the team to a completely different level. He has dealt with injuries this season, but he is healthy now and still has upside and could be one of the best receivers in football. It seems like a great deal.
