Will the Pittsburgh Steelers find a way to add another playmaker to the offense over the next few weeks?
The 2024 National Football League trade deadline now is under two weeks away and it’s clear what Pittsburgh’s biggest need is. The Steelers need to add another weapon to the offense for quarterback Russell Wilson to throw to. Pittsburgh has been linked to plenty of superstars, but have failed to lock one down.
Pittsburgh still could add a receiver, though, in a smaller deal. The Athletic’s Diana Russini mentioned New England Patriots receivers Tyquan Thornton and Kendrick Bourne as possible targets on the “Scoop City” podcast.
“I do. I think the Steelers are trying to do something,” Russini said. “Darius Slayton, Diontae Johnson, Christian Kirk, DeMarcus Robinson, K.J. Osborn, Tyquan Thornton, Kendrick Bourne.”
Neither Thornton nor Bourne are superstars to the level of fellow trade targets Brandon Aiyuk or Davante Adams. While this is the case, either could be another player for Wilson to throw to. Bourne has had more success in the National Football League to this point so he probably would be the better option.

Pittsburgh currently is 5-2 on the season and is tied with the Baltimore Ravens for the top spot in the AFC North. Adding another playmaker is the team’s quickest and easiest way to improve the offense even further. Pittsburgh doesn’t have much time left to make a move.
No matter who the Steelers add, it’s clear that they need another receiver and the team certainly knows this.
