Brandon Aiyuk? No. Davante Adams? No. DeAndre Hopkins? No.
Andy Isabella? Yes.
The Steelers signed wide receiver Andy Isabella to the practice squad Friday, bringing in the former second-round pick to add depth to a shaky receiving corps.
Pittsburgh has been linked to Aiyuk, Adams, Hopkins and Christian Kirk since early in the offseason, as the receiving depth behind George Pickens is less than desirable. Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III and Scotty Miller just aren’t getting it done, while rookie wideout Roman Wilson hasn’t been available due to a pair of injuries that have lingered since the beginning of training camp.
Isabella, who the Arizona Cardinals originally drafted with the No. 62 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, is being brought in to perhaps provide a spark. The Cardinals waived Isabella before his rookie deal expired, and then he bounced around, spending time with the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills before signing with the UFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks in 2023.

Isabella played college football at the University of Massachusetts, appearing in 45 games. He had 231 receptions for 3,526 yards and 30 touchdowns and was a Biletnikoff Award Finalist and consensus All-American in 2018.
It’s not the name many fans probably expected, but at least it’s something.
