The Pittsburgh Steelers have two quarterbacks capable of starting in the National Football League right now and it’s likely the rest of the league is taking notice.
Russell Wilson is coming off his first start of the season for the Steelers, leading the team to a dominant 37-15 victory over the New York Jets on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 7. The win moved Pittsburgh to a 5-2 record, and it comes after Justin Fields led the team to start the season.
With Fields benched in favor of Wilson by head coach Mike Tomlin, the pending free agent certainly has big question marks surrounding him next season. But one insider believes no matter what team Fields plays for in 2025, he might have earned himself a starting gig.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac wrote in his weekly chat that Fields has earned himself a chance to start in 2025, even if it’s elsewhere and not in Pittsburgh.
“I think Fields might have played himself into a job with another team in 2025 with the way he played the first six games,” Dulac wrote in his Steelers chat.

Through six starts, Fields threw for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and an interception. He also ran for 231 yards on the ground and five more scores. The 25-year-old has shown he’s capable and should get his chance in 2025, even if Wilson starts the remainder of the campaign.
