The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off arguably their best win of the season, beating the New York Jets 37-15 in Week 7.
Pittsburgh made a quarterback switch this week, and it paid off. Russell Wilson started this week after missing the first six weeks of the regular season with a calf injury. Justin Fields led the Steelers to a 4-2 record while starting, and Wilson kept the hot streak going for the black and gold.
Wilson threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns in his debut while also tacking on a rushing touchdown. After a slow offensive first quarter, the Steelers exploded for double-digit points in every other quarter of the game.
Wilson praised fellow quarterback Justin Fields in a postgame interview following the win over the Jets, as transcribed by Sports Illustrated’s Ari Meyer.
“You know, we are in a tremendous situation where we are,” Wilson said. “You know I think there’s a lot of outside noise that makes it seem like it’s a negative thing and this rivalry internally, but it’s not man.”

“I have to give Justin Fields credit, man, just all the things he was able to do, how great he’s been playing. He inspires me everyday, how he works. Vice versa. We have a great relationship. He’s a tremendous quarterback, he’s a franchise quarterback. He’s a leader, he’s got all the intangibles. Whatever I can give to him and show him and just be around him, that’s part of my job.”
Wilson will likely remain the starter for the Steelers as they host the New York Giants next Monday Night, looking to extend their winning streak. It is encouraging to see Wilson praise Fields for all he has done for the team this season and display the culture in Pittsburgh.
