Steelers Reportedly Showing Interest In Trade For Jets Veteran Playmaker

Is a trade on the way?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a big game ahead of them on Sunday night.

Pittsburgh will face off against the new-look New York Jets, with superstar receiver Davante Adams expected to make his debut with the team after recently being acquired in a trade. Now that Adams is in town, it already has been reported that fellow receiver Mike Williams could be on the trade block.

The Steelers were interested in Adams and now reportedly are interested in Williams, too, but the two sides are pushing negotiations until after this week’s clash, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“The Jets instead held on to Williams for the time being, but it might not be much longer,” Schefter said. “Two of the interested teams, according to league sources, are expected to be the Steelers and (Los Angeles Chargers), where Williams played the first seven years of his career. The Jets and Steelers decided to table any substantive discussions about Williams until next week, according to league sources.”

Williams would be a good fit for the Steelers. He had two seasons with over 1,000 yards across his first seven seasons with the Chargers. When he’s been healthy, he has been dynamic. There is only one football and a lot of people to feed in New York. His role has been diminished but he would have much more opportunities in Pittsburgh.
