The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t miss a beat with Russell Wilson at the helm.
After plenty of questions throughout the week regarding the quarterback position of the Steelers, head coach Mike Tomlin chose to roll with Russell Wilson on “Sunday Night Football” against the New York Jets — and it was the right choice. Pittsburgh dominated their way to a 37-15 victory.
Wilson and the offense struggled in the early going, only being able to total two field goals before finding themselves down 15-6. It was an interception by Beanie Bishop Jr. that shifted the game to the Steelers. The 35-year-old quarterback would connect with George Pickens on an 11-yard score to bring them within two points. From there, it was a Steelers onslaught.
Pittsburgh would score three more touchdowns throughout the game, with Wilson earning a rushing score while delivering a second touchdown pass to Van Jefferson. Najee Harris closed out the game with a rushing touchdown with 26 seconds to go in the fourth quarter.
Wilson finished his first Steelers regular-season start going 16-of-29 for 264 passing yards, two touchdowns, and a score on the ground. Harris had his second-straight 100-yard rushing game, racking up 102 yards on 21 attempts along with the touchdown.

The decision to start Wilson instead of Justin Fields looks good after one week, bringing the Steelers to a 5-2 record and rolling into Week 8 atop the AFC North.
The Steelers will look to stay hot when they take on the New York Giants on “Monday Night Football” before heading into their bye week.
