Pirates infielder Jared Triolo could soon be recognized for his versatility, as he was named a 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalist.
MLB on Tuesday announced three finalists for each position in the American League and National League, with Triolo (utility) serving as Pittsburgh’s lone representative. Triolo could become just the third player in his league to win the award as a utility player, joining Ha-Seong Kim of the San Diego Padres (2023) and Brendan Donovan of the St. Louis Cardinals (2022).
Triolo — who appeared at third base (61), second base (47), first base (9), shortstop (9) and in right field (1) — will contend with Donovan and Kiké Hernández of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Pirates only saw a couple players win Gold Gloves recently, with Ke’Bryan Hayes (third base) winning in 2023 and Jacob Stallings (catcher) winning in 2021. Triolo, who mostly split time between second and third base, had six defensive runs saved in 2024, more than Hernández (five) and Donovan (zero).
