Who will be the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback in Week 6 action against the Las Vegas Raiders?
It’s starting to become clear who will be under center.
Justin Fields has started each of the Steelers’ first five games of the season, and it seems like that trend will continue on Sunday against the Raiders. It’s not fully confirmed yet, head coach Mike Tomlin said that the expectation is that Russell Wilson will be active for the clash, but as the backup quarterback, according to The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo.
“He’s proven his health, now it’s just a matter of knocking the rust off,” Tomlin said. “He’s probably going to be active as the No. 2 quarterback. I like what I’ve seen out here. But again, health and rust are two different things. I thought he had a good week, displaying his health, ability to protect himself. And now it’s just the process of getting re-acclimated to the ball.”
If Fields can continue to impress under center this weekend, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Pittsburgh roll with the hot hand for the foreseeable future. Fields has been solid and certainly has earned that right. Wilson was expected to be the starter, but a calf injury completely changed things.

Now, we’ll just have to monitor the team moving forward. It seems like the situation is fluid meaning that if Fields ever struggles, Wilson could then come in. Hopefully, no one struggles and the Steelers find ways to win games instead.
