Will the Pittsburgh Steelers find a way to improve their offense after losing two straight games?
The Steelers started perfectly through the first three weeks of the regular season, with Justin Fields leading the team. Pittsburgh’s defense was elite, allowing ten or fewer points in each contest. Fields threw for two touchdowns during those three games, adding another one on the ground.
Pittsburgh has lost the two games since by a combined six total points. Fields combined for three total touchdowns in Week 4 and threw for two more in Week 5, but it wasn’t enough to win. The Steelers tried to make a deal for San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk in the offseason to add to their offense, but the deal fell through. The need to improve the offense is still there.
One hypothetical trade target who has been mentioned for the Steelers is New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton, according to CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin.
“They’re reportedly sniffing around Davante Adams after missing on Brandon Aiyuk,” Benjamin said. “Slayton would be a much milder but likely cheaper alternative, offering solid, if unspectacular, production.”

Slayton is coming off his best game of the season against the Seattle Seahawks, catching eight passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. He has 244 yards on 18 catches and one touchdown on the season. Slayton is a solid receiver who would surely boost the Steeler’s offensive production, and acquiring a player like him will help the team as they hope to return to the playoffs this season.
