The Pittsburgh Steelers are finally starting to get healthier.
Pittsburgh hasn’t been at full strength so far this season with quarterback Russell Wilson’s calf injury being the most notable ailment. He was going to be the team’s starting quarterback, but his calf injury opened the door for Justin Fields to start and he hasn’t lost the job to this point.
It’s unclear who will be under center in Week 6, but it certainly seems like it will be Fields. Wilson did return to practice in a full capacity on Wednesday, though, so he should be active at least.
Now that they both are healthy, there continuously will be questions about who will start. This won’t stop unless someone is traded or injured. Some have speculated that Wilson could take the job, but ESPN’s Dan Graziano predicted he won’t ever touch the field as a member of the Steelers unless Fields gets hurt.
“At least Fields offers running ability, and the coaches and players I’ve talked to there had nothing but positive things to say about him,” Graziano said. “So, it’s interesting to see what coach Mike Tomlin does on this, but I’m sticking with my prediction that Wilson never plays for the Steelers unless Fields gets hurt. It’s also worth remembering Wilson’s one-year, minimum-salary contract includes a no-trade clause. It’s possible this ends with him getting released, not traded.”

Fields has been very good this season. He is young and can be the team’s quarterback of the future. Wilson may have completely lost his job with the Steelers and should be monitored over the next few weeks ahead of the trade deadline.
