Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin won’t be able to stall much longer.
Russell Wilson or Justin Fields?
The Steelers have leaned on Fields to start the season, and have been guided to a 3-2 record that now includes back-to-back losses following a crushing defeat at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Wilson is scheduled to be a full participant Wednesday, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN, though, which will mark the first time he hasn’t been limited since suffering a calf injury during the preseason.
Tomlin has avoided conversations regarding a decision between Wilson and Fields but claimed Pittsburgh was in a “different place” this week.
“We’re in a little bit different place as I stand here today with Russ,” Tomlin said Tuesday, per Pro Football Talk. “Tomorrow will be the first Wednesday that he’ll be a scheduled full participant, we’ll see where that leads us. First, we’ll see if he’s, obviously, able to pull it off and get through the session. And if he does, what is the quality of that work look like? The ability to protect himself, etc. — some of the conversations that we’ve been having, but having more in a hypothetical way.

“He’s at the point of health now where we can work on a Wednesday without restrictions. And so, we’ll do so.”
The Steelers ultimately will have to make a decision between Wilson and Fields before their matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
