The Pittsburgh Steelers have remained in the hunt for a second starting wide receiver and they may need to wait until the offseason to finally add one to the roster.
Pittsburgh was in the trade discussions for Brandon Aiyuk throughout the preseason and has reportedly taken part in the Davante Adams sweepstakes as well, but there’s no guarantee that the Steelers will have the wide receiver they’re looking for to pair with George Pickens by the time the NFL trade deadline passes on Nov. 4. Due to that being the case, it’s always good to look ahead and the 2025 NFL Draft looks to be the ideal spot to grab a wideout in the early going.
Pro Football Focus has put together their latest NFL mock draft, and they see the Steelers selecting wide receiver Emeka Egbuka out of Ohio State with the 28th pick.
“Egbuka recorded over 1,000 receiving yards as a true sophomore in 2022 but missed a significant portion of last season due to an ankle injury that required mid-year surgery,” PFF’s Trevor Sikkema wrote. “When he returned, it was clear he wasn’t at 100%.
“Despite that, he remains one of the top route runners in the 2025 class and could be an immediate WR2 in the Steelers’ passing attack.”

The senior wideout has had a strong start to his season, piling together 21 receptions for 362 receiving yards and two touchdowns over four games — including three games of 96 yards or more. A lot of football is left to be played before the 2025 NFL Draft, but the Steelers could be prepared to add at the position if they can’t prior.
Pittsburgh takes the field for Week 5 on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. EST.
