Will the Pittsburgh Steelers pull off a trade ahead of the 2024 National Football League trade deadline?
The trade deadline will come and pass on Nov. 5, and Pittsburgh could use another receiver. Pittsburgh certainly has tried to add and attempted to bring in San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk this summer. A deal was close, but ultimately, Aiyuk ended up staying with the 49ers.
One thing Pittsburgh’s pursuit of Aiyuk showed is that the team certainly is willing to make a big move. Aiyuk would’ve been a great fit, but there are other receivers out there. ESPN’s Dan Graziano even called the Steelers a fit for Cleveland Browns receiver Amari Cooper in a possible trade.
“Pittsburgh is in a similar group (as the receiver-needy Kansas City Chiefs),” Graziano said. “The Steelers looked for a receiver this offseason, tried to acquire Brandon Aiyuk, and still need help opposite George Pickens. Cooper would be one to watch for Pittsburgh, though it’d be an in-division trade, and those are tough to execute. I would expect the Steelers to be in on Davante Adams, along with DeAndre Hopkins, if he becomes available, and I do wonder about Christian Kirk in Jacksonville.”
Cooper would be an interesting fit for Pittsburgh. It would be tough to pull off a trade within the division. But Cooper is talented enough of a player to consider a deal. He is a five-time Pro Bowler and has seven 1,000-yard seasons under his belt. He is the type of player Pittsburgh should be looking to add.
