Will the Pittsburgh Steelers add another playmaker to the offense?
If the Steelers can continue to play as they have to begin the season, they certainly should consider a move. Pittsburgh currently is 3-0 and has looked like one of the best teams in football. Justin Fields has looked comfortable under center and the defense has been amazing so far in the young season.
Fields has been one of the more efficient quarterbacks in football and has done a good job protecting the ball. It’s unclear if he will keep the job for the rest of the season, but he has been great. It couldn’t hurt to add another receiver to the mix behind George Pickens.
Pittsburgh clearly knows that it should add another receiver as it tried to land San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk. More players could become available over the next two months and Bleacher Report’s scouting department called New York Giants receiver Darius Slayton a possible trade option.
“The Steelers offense continues to be a work in progress supported by a defense that will give the team a chance to win nearly every week,” Bleacher Report said. “Part of the problem is that Justin Fields is limited as a passer, but the receivers also bear some of the blame. Outside of George Pickens, there just aren’t many weapons who make the opposing secondary sweat.

“Darius Slayton is part of another relatively harmless offense, but he at least has deep speed that secondaries have to respect. He’s a functional deep target who could help open the offense up, and the Steelers desperately need to help Pickens and Fields.”
Pittsburgh already has shown early on that it can be a force to be reckoned with this season. The Steelers are one of just four teams that currently are 3-0, with two more games to be played on Monday night. Landing Slayton could be a great start for the Steelers. Pittsburgh has talent throughout the roster and one of the best defenses in football. Adding Slayton could give the team one more necessary weapon at a low cost.
