The Pittsburgh Steelers are likely getting extra receiving help in time for their home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Pittsburgh’s offense has struggled as they started the season 2-0. Justin Fields has done a good job leading the offense, but the Steelers receivers have not produced besides George Pickens. Pickens would be doing even better had penalties not negated a 50-yard reception and a touchdown in Week 2. Calvin Austin and Van Jefferson have only combined for five receptions for 28 yards through two games.
After missing the entirety of August and the first two weeks of the regular season due to injury, Roman Wilson will be suiting up for the Steelers in Week 3 according to Sports Illustrated’s Jack Markowski.
“He suffered an ankle injury at the beginning of training camp that kept him out for the entirety of August, including all three of the Steelers’ preseason games,” Markowski said. “At first, he seemed to be progressing and even trending towards playing against the Denver Broncos last Sunday, as he was a full participant in practice early in the week. He was eventually downgraded to limited, however, and was inactive for a second-consecutive game.”
“Now, the third-rounder out of Michigan figures to factor into Pittsburgh’s offensive equation in the home opener. Wilson could eat into some of Calvin Austin III’s snaps from the slot, who has logged 34 reps in that role this season, and even challenge Van Jefferson for looks on the outside opposite of George Pickens.”

The Steelers drafted Wilson in the third round this year. Before getting injured, he was having a great training camp. Wilson returning is great for the Steelers as he will likely impact the depleted Pittsburgh receiving corps immediately.
