The Pittsburgh Steelers certainly have been bitten by the injury bug this season.
Pittsburgh is 2-0 on the young season, but it hasn’t gone as expected. Injuries already have piled up with the Steelers, with quarterback Russell Wilson being the most notable player currently out, but not the only one. The Steelers got some more bad news on Saturday as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that starting rookie right tackle Troy Fautanu will be out “indefinitely.”
“Sources: Steelers starting rookie right tackle Troy Fautanu injured his knee during Friday’s practice and, while he still is undergoing further evaluation, he now is expected to be sidelined indefinitely,” Schefter said.
Losing Fautanu would be a tough break for the Steelers. He was selected by the team in the first round of the 2024 National Football League Draft. Fautanu was selected with the No. 20 overall pick and is expected to play a major role on the team’s offensive line.
Now, it’s unclear when he will return to the field. It hasn’t been reported at this time what exactly his knee injury is, just that he is out indefinitely at this point. Hopefully, once tests are done, the team will get good news. The Steelers are expected to be a very run-heavy team whether Wilson or Justin Fields is under center.

Pittsburgh has two great running backs in, Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. Having Fields under center these last few weeks also has added an extra emphasis on the running game. Now, the team will need to evaluate the rest of its offensive line with Fautanu out.
