The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a surprising number of questions about the quarterback position this summer.
Pittsburgh added Russell Wilson and Justin Fields with the expectation being that Wilson would be the team’s starter this season and some speculating that Fields would take over for the foreseeable future afterward. Wilson has been dealing with a calf issue since early in camp and this opened the door to a real quarterback competition.
Fields won many over, but Wilson won the starting job heading into Week 1. His calf injury popped up again and it was ruled Fields would start the game shortly before the contest. He led them to their first win of the season and now the question is whether or not he will start Week 2.
Wilson isn’t at 100 percent and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport claimed that it “sounds like another week” with Fields starting.
“Steelers coach Mike Tomlin tells reporters that the team is listing Russell Wilson (calf) as questionable for Sunday, but added: ‘If his availability is questionable, then starting is less so.’ Sounds like another week of Justin Fields starting against the Broncos,” Rapoport said.

The longer that Wilson remains out, the more likely it becomes that Fields will hold the job. If Fields continues to impress, there won’t be a reason to take the starting job away from him. The quarterback spot certainly will be one to monitor over the next few days.
