Could the Pittsburgh Steelers make another move?
Pittsburgh already has been busy since its Week 1 win against the Atlanta Falcons. The Steelers reunited with veteran safety Terrell Edmunds and also punter Corliss Waitman after losing Cameron Johnston to a season-ending knee injury.
The Steelers still have room to add more if they want. Each week, Bleacher Report’s scouting department releases a list of each team’s biggest weaknesses with possible ways to fill them now, in free agency next offseason, and in the 2025 National Football League Draft.
Cornerback was called the Steelers’ third-biggest weakness right now. In response, Bleacher Report mentioned former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Tre Herndon as a fit.
“Add Now: CB Tre Herndon,” Bleacher Report said. “The Steelers seem to be fine with the depth they have in the secondary, but it’s a major bet on their ability to spot and develop young talent. Beanie Bishop Jr. is an undrafted free agent expected to play important snaps as the team’s nickel cornerback.

“They also don’t have a lot of depth at the outside cornerback spots with Darius Rush and Cory Trice Jr. serving as the backups to Donte Jackson and Joey Porter Jr. Tre Herndon stuck in Jacksonville for six seasons and made 34 starts as a corner but still doesn’t have a home for the 2024 season.”
Herndon still is available and is a six-time National Football League veteran. Over his six seasons in Jacksonville, he tallied three interceptions and 243 total tackles. If the Steelers were to sign him, he likely wouldn’t be much more than veteran depth.
