Steelers Bolstering Secondary By Reuniting With Former First-Round Pick

Pittsburgh is busy right now

The Pittsburgh Steelers certainly have been busy over the last few days.

Pittsburgh won its Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons after having to make a last-second change at quarterback. Russell Wilson is dealing with a calf injury and therefore the Steelers rolled with Justin Fields as the team’s starter against the Falcons.

The Steelers have been busy since the game ended. Pittsburgh brought back punter Corliss Waitman to replace the injured Cameron Johnston. Pittsburgh also made another move on Tuesday by reuniting with former first-round pick Terrell Edmunds, according to the team.

“The Steelers signed safety Terrell Edmunds to the active roster off the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. In a related move, the team placed punter Cameron Johnston on the Reserve/Injured List,” the team announced. Edmunds was selected by the Steelers in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons in the black and gold before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent in 2023.

“Edmunds played in seven games for the Eagles in 2023, starting three, before he was traded to the Tennessee Titans in mid-season. With the Eagles he had 26 tackles, 19 of them solo stops, two special teams tackles and one fumble recovery. Edmunds played in nine games for the Titans, starting one. He recorded 15 tackles, 12 of them solo stops, two passes defensed and one interception.”
