The Pittsburgh Pirates got a boost from another prospect on Sunday.
Pittsburgh called up 25-year-old prospect Billy Cook to start at first base in the final game of the series against the Washington Nationals. Cook, usually a third baseman, was able to make a splash in his major league debut as he went 2-for-4 at the dish, recording a double while driving in two RBIs.
However, the play he made on the field is the one that will be most remembered from his MLB debut. On a fouled pitch by Nationals designated hitter Andrés Chaparro, Cook crashed into the net down the first base line and made the highlight reel catch.

MLB.com ranks Cook as the 24th prospect in the Pirates’ farm system. If he’s going to continue showing out at the plate and making catches like that, he’s going to have a long career in the majors.
