The Pittsburgh Steelers are still in the market for a wide receiver after their deal for Brandon Aiyuk fell through.
The Steelers made the headlines this offseason after almost trading for the San Francisco 49ers star. Pittsburgh has revamped their offense with the additions of quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields and wants another receiver to pair with George Pickens. The emergence has elevated the Steelers’ offense, but they are in search of another receiver after trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers this offseason.
One name that has been floated around has been Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton. The Steelers potentially could be in the mix for Sutton mid-season according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano.
“What’s next for Pittsburgh? For now, the Steelers will give veteran Van Jefferson a shot at WR2,” Graziano and Fowler said. “He had a strong preseason. (Pat Freiermuth) will also be a prime target for Russell Wilson. The team is hoping to get rookie Roman Wilson back soon from a training camp ankle injury.
“Pittsburgh will also likely monitor the landscape for potential developments leading up to the trade deadline. Several teams have tried to trade for Denver’s Courtland Sutton, but the Broncos have not been willing to trade him…so far. Perhaps Pittsburgh will entertain a reunion between Sutton and Wilson.”

Depending on how the first half of the season goes, Denver could very well part with Sutton before the trade deadline. A reunion with Wilson in Pittsburgh would be a major improvement for the Steelers’ offense.
