There was one major addition to the Pittsburgh Steelers injury report Thursday as they prepare for Sunday’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
Starting quarterback Russell Wilson was one of eight players listed on the injury report due to calf tightness, sparking concerns over his health with the season opener just days away.
“Russ Wilson was a limited participant today,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters, per Teresa Varley of Steelers.com. “His calf got tight. So, we wanted to exercise some precaution. We’ll see what tomorrow looks like and kind of go from there.”
Tomlin said he had no long-term concerns over Wilson’s calf and that Wilson’s ailment won’t change the way the team game plans for the Falcons. It’s the same calf that bothered Wilson during training camp, and Tomlin said he expects the 35-year-old signal-caller to get the area further examined.
“We probably will, just to exercise an abundance of precaution,” Tomlin said.

Tomlin gave Wilson the keys to Pittsburgh’s offense last week when the 12-year NFL veteran was named the team’s starter over Justin Fields. But if Wilson can’t make his Steelers debut due to the calf injury, the Steelers will look to Fields to lead the way.
The Steelers did get some good news in regards to players dealing with injuries as running back Jaylen Warren (hamstring), offensive tackle Troy Fautanu and Cory Trice Jr. (groin) were all full participants in practice after being limited Wednesday.
Here is the Steelers’ full injury report from Thursday:
