Steelers Land Playmaker In Pro Football Network’s 2025 Mock Draft

The Steelers are predicted to add a necessary piece

The Pittsburgh Steelers are going into the 2024 season with a weakness they will need to address.

After weeks of rumors, Pittsburgh missed out on trading for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. This leaves the Steelers with George Pickens, Van Jefferson, and Calvin Austin as the team’s main targets to open the season. If Pittsburgh does not address their receiver issue during the season, the 2025 National Football League draft is an ideal time to get a receiver.

In a first-round 2025 NFL mock draft, Pro Football Network’s Derek Tate has the Steelers drafting Arizona Wildcats wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan at No. 14.

“The Steelers may be in the market for a quarterback if Russell Wilson or Justin Fields don’t make a compelling enough case to secure a second contract as the quarterback of the future in Pittsburgh.” Tate wrote. “Yet, I am still a believer in Justin Fields running Arthur Smith’s run-heavy offensive scheme at a high enough level to earn another year under center, which makes this addition Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan a slam dunk at No. 14 overall.”

“McMillian projects as an instant impact outside receiver with impressive suddenness and acceleration for a player at 6’5” 210 pounds. His body control and catch radius alongside George Pickens could make life treacherous on secondaries with smaller DBs who are ill-equipped to handle a dangerous contested-catch duo like this.”

Pittsburgh would be addressing a major skill position need by drafting McMillan. Pro Football Network’s mock draft was created hours before McMillan had 304 yards receiving and four touchdowns against New Mexico. McMillan would be a great addition to the Steelers’ future.
