Steelers Sign Former Eagles Running Back To Practice Squad

He was with the Rams throughout the preseason

The Pittsburgh Steelers are making some moves for their practice squad after cutting the roster down to 53.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Steelers are expected to sign former Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams running back Boston Scott to their practice squad, giving the backfield some added depth with Jaylen Warren working back from his injured hamstring. Scott was released by the Rams on Sunday after spending the preseason in Los Angeles.

The 29-year-old was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round in 2018 before signing with Philadelphia. Scott was a part of the Eagles up until the 2023 season. The 5’6″ running back has averaged 4.3 yards per carry in his career, rushing for a total of 1,295 yards and 16 touchdowns through 75 games.

Scott has also been a good pass-catcher and blocker throughout his career. He has 71 receptions and 566 receiving yards in his six-year career.

Pittsburgh currently has three running backs on their 53-man roster following the cuts on Tuesday. Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, and Cordarrelle Patterson will be the ones expected to get all the work for the Steelers this season, but Scott’s placement on the practice squad gives them some veteran insurance.
