Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers will close out the preseason this Saturday.
Mike Tomlin revealed Thursday that Wilson will start at quarterback in the preseason finale against the Detroit Lions. The Steelers head coach also stated that all healthy players will play, per ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. Wilson should get a chance to work with the first-team offense in what is the final tune-up for the offense — one that is much needed.
Pittsburgh was only able to score three points in their second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, with both Wilson and Justin Fields leading the way for the offense.
The 35-year-old signal-caller was sacked three times in his first appearance for the Steelers, going 8-for-10 with just 47 passing yards. Fields had the better game, throwing for 92 yards and rushing for 42 yards on the ground.
While it will be Wilson getting the start, no quarterback has been named the starter for Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons — making this as big a preseason game as any for the Steelers in some time.
