The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the news lately as they look to add a new wide receiver.
Pittsburgh has been looking for another weapon to pair with young receiver George Pickens. San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk has been the most talked about option, but there are other players out there. Some have speculated that a reunion with former Pro Bowler JuJu Smith-Schuster could make sense, but it doesn’t sound like a deal will happen.
Smith-Schuster recently parted ways with the New England Patriots and now is available. Despite this, the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette’s Ray Fittipaldo claimed Pittsburgh isn’t looking into a reunion.
“I wouldn’t close the door on Aiyuk,” Fittipaldo said. “As far as JuJu goes, they have enough guys like him. What they really need is a No. 2 WR and they don’t grow on trees.”
Smith-Schuster was selected in the second round of the 2017 National Football League Draft by Pittsburgh and looked like he was going to be a staple in the team’s offense for years to come. He had over 900 yards in his rookie season and followed it up with a breakout performance in 2018 in which he had over 1,400 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Injuries and inconsistent play have slowed him down since and now he is more of a depth option rather than a No. 1 or No. 2 offensive threat. He likely wouldn’t cost much and it still could make some sense to consider a move for Pittsburgh. But, it doesn’t sound like a reunion is in the cards at this point.
