NFL Insider Makes Prediction As Brandon Aiyuk Saga Continues

Where will Aiyuk be suiting up this season?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in talks with the San Francisco 49ers for weeks about a potential Brandon Aiyuk trade.

After trading away Diontae Johnson in the offseason to the Carolina Panthers, the Steelers have been searching for another receiver to pair with George Pickens. Aiyuk has been Pittsburgh’s main target. At one point, the Steelers and 49ers reportedly had a deal in place for Aiyuk, but the 49ers have not accepted the deal.

The Steelers reportedly offered the 49ers draft compensation for Aiyuk and planned to give the All-Pro receiver a contract of around $28 million a season. San Francisco gained a renewed urgency to sign Aiyuk instead of trading him to Pittsburgh.

While appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN’s Adam Schefter detailed the current Aiyuk situation and predicted how it will play out.

“Here’s what we do know. I think he would like to be in San Francisco,” Schefter said. “We know he wants to be paid. And we know the 49ers want to keep him. So if all that is there, all the elements are there, it shouldn’t be that hard. It shouldn’t be that hard to get to the point where you figure out what it’s going to take to get it across the finish line.”

It remains unclear what will happen with a possible Brandon Aiyuk trade. There is little time to finalize a deal with only a couple of weeks left before the start of the regular season.
