The conversation surrounding the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers continues to be one of the biggest in the NFL preseason.
Pittsburgh has now seen both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields take the field in the preseason, and it’s been followed by mixed results. Wilson finished his first outing in black and gold going 8-for-10 for 47 passing yards while being sacked three different times. For Fields, his first start was a murky one, featuring two fumbled snaps but the second game was a strong look — throwing for 92 yards on 11 completions (18 attempts). He was also able to lead the team in rushing with 42 yards on the ground via eight attempts — a factor that sets him apart from Wilson.
On Monday’s episode of ESPN’s “Get Up,” former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky shared his thoughts on who should get the start for the Steelers come Week 1, naming the former Chicago Bears signal-caller as the best option.
“Justin Fields should start for the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Orlovsky said on “Get Up.” “Two preseason games in and two weeks until the season, I think it’s obvious that Justin brings more good than bad in comparison to Russ.”
You can hear Orlovsky’s full thoughts on the quarterback competition in the video below.
