The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a much-needed addition to their defense.
Earlier in the preseason, the Steelers re-signed linebacker Markus Golden to a one-year deal to give them depth behind the likes of T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, and Patrick Queen on the defense. As training camp went on, Golden decided that he’d retire from the NFL on Aug. 10 — leading to the Steelers needing to find some depth once again. According to reports, they’ve found their answer.
Per KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson, the Steelers have signed former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Kyahva Tezino.
Tezino played 23 snaps with the 49ers during the preseason in 2023 but has stayed in football as a member of the Birmingham Stallions in the United Football League, who won the championship in the league’s inaugural season in 2024.
The 27-year-old led the team with 70 total tackles, ranking fourth in the UFL overall. He also had a 0.5 sack during his season with the Stallions.

Tezino was a member of the San Diego State Aztecs, spending four seasons with his alma mater from the 2016-2017 season to the 2019-2020 campaign. He wracked up 15.5 sacks and went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. His first NFL contract came with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent.
