The Pittsburgh Steelers are ready to get on the field with their new quarterback at the helm.
Russell Wilson is expected to start Week 1 for Pittsburgh. The quarterback signed a one-year, $1.21 million to join the Steelers after a tumultuous run with the Denver Broncos ending after two seasons.
He hasn’t been able to dawn a Steelers uniform as of yet after not playing in the first preseason game against the Houston Texans. Even so, Wilson is making an impact in practice — especially to Pittsburgh’s top receiver, who praised the former Pro Bowl quarterback for his enthusiasm.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, wide receiver George Pickens was asked about Wilson, saying that the enthusiasm about the signal-caller is the best thing about him.
“He’s a very good leader,” Pickens said, as transcribed by Yardbarker’s Aaron Becker. “He’s a more verbal guy than the other Qs for sure. His enthusiasm is the best thing about him.”

The tandem of Wilson-to-Pickens is one that Steelers fans hope brings the team big success in 2024. Pittsburgh will take the field once again for preseason action on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. EST when they face off with the Buffalo Bills. Perhaps that will be the first time Wilson takes the field for the team.
