The Pittsburgh Steelers will have some tough decisions to make over the next few weeks.
Pittsburgh seems to be in a good spot heading into the 2024 season but will have to trim down the roster before the campaign actually kicks off. The Steelers will have to cut plenty of players and could end up making some trades as well.
One player who was mentioned as someone who could be on the trade block is young defensive tackle DeMarvin Leal by Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler.
“The snaps simply haven’t been there for DeMarvin Leal as a Steeler,” Fowler said. “A promising young talent within a veteran Pittsburgh front seven, Leal accrued just 206 snaps last fall in a rotational role up front.
“Given that Leal’s skill set remains a work in progress, which has in turn limited playing time, moving him could create more flexibility along the line for players like Logan Lee (sixth-rounder in 2024) for more snaps. Given his age (24) and potential performance ceiling, the Steelers could leverage his upside to acquire valuable draft picks or a more immediate contributor at the position if they seem fit. The move would align with (head coach) Mike Tomlin’s long-term strategy of staying competitive in the always competitive AFC North by continually reloading talent from a variety of avenues.”

Leal was selected in the third round of the 2022 National Football League Draft by Pittsburgh and has had one sack and 29 total tackles over the last two seasons.
