Ex-Steelers Receiver Reportedly Getting Another Shot In NFL With Commanders

One former member of the Steelers is back in the league

One former member of the Pittsburgh Steelers is getting another opportunity in the National Football League.

Former Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant hasn’t appeared in a National Football League game since 2008 with the Las Vegas Raiders but now has a chance to make a return to the league as a member of the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“Washington Commanders signed veteran (Wide Receiver) Martavis Bryant,” Schefter said.

Bryant flashed some serious talent as a member of the Steelers but suspensions kept him off the field. Since 2018, he has bounced around different professional football leagues but hasn’t had the chance to play in an NFL game. He spent some time on the Dallas Cowboy’s practice squad but didn’t see any action.

He was selected by Pittsburgh in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft and had just under 600 receiving yards in his first season. Overall, he tallied 1,917 receiving yards across parts of three seasons with the Steelers.

The 32-year-old isn’t guaranteed to land a spot with the Commanders’ active roster for the 2024 season, but this is a great sign for him. He now will have a chance to join camp and fight for a roster spot. Hopefully, he’s able to impress in camp and land a role. He hasn’t appeared in a game at the NFL level since 2018 but it sounds like the 2024 campaign could be his year.
