The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the news a lot lately.
The 2024 National Football League season is right around the corner and there’s a lot to be excited about in Pittsburgh. The Steelers added to the roster this offseason and improved the quarterback position by landing both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Both give the Steelers a better chance to win than last season and they still were able to get 10 wins in 2023.
Pittsburgh still has been in the news lately as some have speculated that the franchise could be in the mix for San Francisco 49ers star receiver Brandon Aiyuk. He recently requested a trade and it has seemed over the last few days that Pittsburgh is his preferred landing spot but the latest report could be bad news for Steelers fans.
Aiyuk and the 49ers reportedly have “renewed effort” in a contract extension in San Francisco, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
“The 49ers have made a renewed effort in recent days to strike a long-term deal with (Wide Receiver) Brandon Aiyuk, sources tell me and Mike Garafolo,” Pelissero said. “The situation is fluid and other teams, including Pittsburgh, are still in the mix. But a return to SF appears increasingly possible.”

Landing Aiyuk could help take the Steelers’ offense to another level. Pittsburgh already should be better in 2024, but Aiyuk is one of the best receivers in football. He would make a big difference for Pittsburgh, but a move is much less likely at this point.
