Steelers Linked To Broncos Star Receiver In Trade Rumors To Bolster Offense

Pittsburgh could still use one more boost

The Pittsburgh Steelers already are in a much better place than they were at the end of the 2023 season but could another move be on the way?

Pittsburgh was busy throughout the offseason reloading the roster as it looks to get back to the playoffs in 2024. The Steelers had a solid 2023 season that saw them win 10 games, but they should be even better this season thanks in large part to adding Russell Wilson and Justin Fields into the mix to take over the starting quarterback job.

The Steelers will be better no matter which quarterback wins the job. Either Wilson or Fields will have plenty of weapons at their disposal, but some have wondered if the Steelers would be interested in adding another receiver.

Bleacher Report even linked the Steelers to Denver Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton as a possible trade candidate before the 2024 campaign kicks off.

“Add Now: Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos (trade),” Bleacher Report said. “The Steelers are set to enter the season with Van Jefferson as their No. 2 wide receiver. The 28-year-old has just one season with more than 375 receiving yards under his belt and might be the least productive No. 2 receiver in the league. Asking Russell Wilson to resurrect the offense is already a big ask. Making him do it with this receiving corps is a mistake.

“There aren’t a lot of free agents who could make a difference. The Steelers might have to swing a trade before or during the season to make things work. Courtland Sutton would make a lot of sense. He has a pre-existing relationship with Wilson from the last two seasons, and he had a contract dispute with the Broncos that was only resolved with a pay bump this season.”

Sutton has been in trade rumors for the last few months although it’s unclear if he actually will be moved. If he is available, though, he could be a guy that could help the Steelers’ offense.
