Steelers Rookie Receiver Called ‘Week-To-Week’ After Suffering Tough Injury

The rookie got some tough news recently

The Pittsburgh Steelers got some tough news recently.

Pittsburgh rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson recently suffered an ankle injury and reportedly is wearing a boot and is considered “week-to-week,” according to Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper.

“Tomlin also gave an update on wide receiver Roman Wilson after the rookie injured his ankle during practice on Wednesday,” Alper said. “Tomlin said Wilson is wearing a boot as a precaution and is considered week-to-week in terms of his return.”

Wilson was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2024 National Football League Draft after playing his college football with the University of Michigan. The young wideout was a stud with the Wolverines and helped lead Michigan to the National Championship last year. In 2023, Wilson racked up 789 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on just 48 receptions in 15 games played.

He’s expected to play a solid role in the Steelers’ offense in 2024 and should be okay in the near future, but it’s unfortunate that he suffered an ankle injury so early in camp. As a rookie, training camp and the preseason games are extremely important as they look to adjust to the speed of the NFL.

Hopefully, this ankle injury ends up being a short-term ailment so he can get back on the field and get back up to speed. The 2024 season will be here before we know it and the Steelers certainly will be a better team if their new young receiver is on the field for Week 1 action against the Atlanta Falcons.
