Will the Pittsburgh Steelers make another major move before training camp begins?
Pittsburgh has had a great offseason so far on both sides of the ball, addressing major needs and setting the team up for the 2024 season and possibly beyond that.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Steelers signed eight-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson and traded for quarterback Justin Fields. Those two moves alone should put the Steelers in a significantly better spot than they were in at this time last year.
When you add in the offseason additions of cornerback Donte Jackson via trade from the Carolina Panthers, and signing of linebacker Patrick Queen to the Steelers already star-studded defense, you can clearly see that the Steelers are positioning themselves to compete at the highest level this upcoming season.
With time still left before training camp, there is one area the Steelers could address to even further improve the roster. Pittsburgh has a rising star wide receiver in George Pickens, but after trading Diontae Johnson to Carolina, they could use another top-tier receiver to pair with Pickens. One player that the Steelers have been linked to is San Francisco 49ers Brandon Aiyuk.

It’s unclear if the Steelers will get a deal done, but it became more of a possibility on Tuesday as he officially requested a trade from the 49ers, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafalo.
“Source: 49ers All-Pro WR Brandon Aiyuk has officially requested a trade after an offseason of unsuccessful attempts to reach an extension,” Garofolo said. “Despite a recent meeting, the Niners haven’t been willing to engage in negotiations since May so Aiyuk has respectfully asked out.”
Brandon Aiyuk scorched the league last season, tallying 1,342 yards receiving and 6 touchdowns on 75 catches. He’s now had back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons. With his days in San Francisco looking numbered, the Steelers would be a great spot for the All-Pro wide receiver to land.
